Volume 9 : September 2007

He was totally engrossed in arranging and labelling the envelopes. His mom kept observing him from several minutes and noticed the smile on his face after every envelope was carefully sealed. After some time, his mother finally asked him "Dev, Beta what are you doing? What are these envelopes for?". To which, Dev replied "Maa, I am making cards for my classmates to wish them Happy Holidays. It's our last day at school tomorrow for this year and I want them to have fun during their holidays."
The mother had wet eyes because it was only she who understood quite well that her son had no friends at school. They always used to cut him out of their play group. Then why was her son going through all the trouble?? However the next morning she prayed to God asking his blessings on her son so that he does not have a sad day at school and all other children appreciate his efforts.
She stood on the threshold waiting for her son eagerly. Finally she saw her son coming towards her with a smile on the face. "Not even one! Not even one !!..." She was over-whelmed thinking her son was disappointed again at school. She assumed that not even one friend of her son happily accepted the greeting cards... She asked her son to explain what happened with him in school.
Dev replied with an even bigger smile... "Mama, Not even one friend of mine was missed out.I had made exact number of cards and gave each one of my friends" But Dev Beta what did your friends say?... Nothing Mama, but what matters is that Not even one friend was missed out by me....
Yes the above incident sounds very cute and full of innocence... But when we reflect the same in our real life... We will realise how many times we hesitate doing good deeds for others may be out of laziness, may be out of our doubt that is it worth it?
