Pancha Ganapati is a joyous Hindu festival, in which Lord Ganesha is worshipped for five consecutive days of December 21-25th (every year).
In the main living room, a idol of Pancha Ganapati (five faced Lord Ganesha) is placed and is dressed each morning by the children in a specific color and offered sweets and fruits. Everyday there is a puja that is performed at a specific time and chanting hymns and bhajans follow.
On December 21st, Pancha Ganapati is dressed in gold yellow and the puja is performed at 6am. On this day, it is important to create vibration of love and harmony among the immediate family members. Family members ask one another for forgiveness for any unpleasant situations that may have occurred during the year. Once forgiveness is offered each member speaks of good qualities of each other. Then gifts are exchanged and placed unopened in Lord Ganesha's feet.
On December 22nd, Pancha Ganapati is dressed in royal blue and the puja is performed at 9am. On this day, it is vital to create harmony and peace among neighbors, friends and relatives and then gifts are exchanged.
On December 23rd, Pancha Ganapati is dressed in Ruby Red and the puja is performed at noon. On this day, it is important to create vibration of love and peace with business merchants, employees, and vendors that one deals with by settling debts and disputes.
On December 24th, Pancha Ganapati is dressed in emerald green and the puja is performed at 3pm. On this day, family, friends, and relatives gather and share their artistic talents (music, dance, art, and drama) with each other.
On the final day, December 25th, Pancha Ganapati is dressed in orange and the puja is performed at 6pm. On this day, it is crucial to bring harmony with Lord Ganesha so he can continue to bless us, our home and our families for the coming year. Lord Ganesha comes to ones home if there is positive energy, and happiness among family members, friends, and relatives. On this final day, all of the presents are unwrapped and a family feast follows.
